:: January 22, 2002 - Golden Globe Lunch ::

I love the Golden Globes and the Oscars. The Grammys are sometimes okay, but usually too painfully pretentious to bear. I was fairly pleased with the results of Sunday's Golden Globe 2002 awards. They are a great barometer forshadowing the upcoming Academy Awards in March. They should be interesting this year.

Don't for get to subscribe to the Lunch Mail List to get daily updates.

A red Strawberry X-treme fruit roll-up. That reminds of the red carpet from the Golden Globes. Will Smith's kid looked like a little psycho when his dad was being interviewed. Jada Pinkett-Smith, Will Smith's wife, looked like she was going to brain the little bugger. There were some fashion disasters there too. Sarah Jessica Parker's outfit - EEK!

A Kiwi fruit. Russell Crowe, who won the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama (Beautiful Mind - which also won best picture) is from New Zealand. Thus, he is a Kiwi. I don't think he's a fruit though. It's looking good for Mr Crowe, who won the Oscar for Gladiator last year.

This triangle salami and cheese sandwich reminds me of a space craft. Maybe it's the Millennium Falcon flown by Han Solo and Chewbacca. Han Solo aka Indiana Jones aka Harrison Ford was honoured with the Cecil B DeMille award. He seemed truly grateful and humbled by the whole experience. It is a lifetime acheivement award after all.

Rebars are back! These will keep you skinny. Some of the movie starlets like Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Connelly (who won best supporting actress in a drama for A Beautiful Mind) are looking so thin it looks as if they have taken to consuming nothing but cigarettes and the odd glass of water. It's a very easy and probably common to end up with an eating disorder in the biz. Have a burger ladies.

Five Alive. This reminds me of Short Circuit with Johnny 5 the Robot. "Number 5 ... is alive!" [*mp3 14.2kb]. That piece of crap would never wina Golden Globe, but it was kinda funny. There were some great bits in that bit of 80's cheese.

I'm reading this book in the hopes of learning how to get my movie made. There are lots of great resources for horror screenwriting out there on the web. There's even a Cyber Film School. Maybe one day the movie I hope to make will win an award or two (or not).
